We are responsible for the comprehensive upkeep of county highways. From patching potholes and plowing snow to repairing traffic devices and maintaining our fleet, our mission is to preserve our transportation infrastructure and ensure public safety.

When winter weather arrives, our entire maintenance staff—from every crew listed below—comes together to keep the highway system clear and safe.
🕒 24/7 OperationsRotating 12-hour shifts provide continuous coverage during storms.
🧂 Anti-Icing & De-IcingStrategic application of liquid anti-icing agents before storms and treated salt during snowfall.
🚧 The Road Crew
Responsible for the physical pavement and surface, ensuring a smooth drive and protecting infrastructure investment.
Pavement Preservation: Rapid pothole repair and crack sealing to protect the driving surface.
Drainage: Maintaining culverts, shoulders, and ditches to prevent flooding.
🛑 Sign Shop
Ensures all drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians can navigate the County Highway System safely.
Traffic Control Devices: In charge maintaining any traffic control devices on County systems.
Signage: Fabricating and installing regulatory, warning, and guide signs.
🌳 Vegetation Crew
Manages the natural environment along the county right-of-way to ensure safety and visibility.
Roadside Mowing: Maintaining over 500 lane miles to control weeds and maintain sightlines.
Trimming: Removing hazardous trees and clearing brush for better sightlines.

The backbone of our operations, ensuring all MCDOT vehicles and equipment are ready to deploy.
